WPD Seeking Bids For New Vehicles, City Looking For Summer Employees
WARSAW — The City of Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety’s meeting lasted less than 15 minutes this morning, April 21. Topics discussed included the Warsaw Police Department seeking bids for two new vehicles and the city looking for more summer employees.
WPD Caption Kip Shuter was present at the meeting to request seeking sealed quotes to purchase two Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles. The vehicles will replace the Chevrolet Caprice’s, which are no longer being manufactured. The funding for the vehicles was already factored into and approved for this year’s budget.
Once ordered, it will take 8-10 weeks for the department to receive the new vehicles. The board approved seeking sealed quotes.
Jennifer Whitaker, human resources director, explained to the board that the city is still in the hiring process for summer positions. The seasonal jobs include positions such as maintenance laborers, lifeguards and recreational leaders. These include full and part-time positions. Job postings can be viewed online.
“It’s getting tough out there,” said Whitaker mentioning that the city is having a harder time than usual filling the positions.
