Baseball
Valley picked up a win in Three Rivers Conference play with a 6-5 decision at North Miami Wednesday afternoon.
The Vikings needed its insurance run in the seventh, as its three-run cushion was cut to one as the Warriors plated two in the seventh to make for the one-run contest.
Alec Craig went the distance, giving up nine hits, five earned runs, four walks and 11 strikeouts in his work detail. Craig also added two hits at the plate, with teammates Lucas Walters, Keegan Larimer and Hunter Early also getting multiple hits.
Garrett Bahney had three hits and four RBIs to pace the Warriors (3-3, 0-1 TRC).
Tippecanoe Valley (3-1, 1-0 TRC) will host South Bend Adams Thursday afternoon.
Softball
A high-scoring affair had North Miami hold on for an 8-6 TRC win over Tippecanoe Valley. Valley held a 6-5 lead in the fifth before North Miami responded with three runs to close out the scoring.
Ally Betten had a double among her three hits and she drove in three runs and scored one. Kayla Scott had two hits, two RBIs and three stolen bases and Kaitlin Shepherd scored two runs.
Maryann Freeman and Riley Saddlemire each had a pair of hits to pace the Lady Warriors (2-4, 1-0 TRC).
Tippecanoe Valley (4-5, 0-1 TRC) will host Adams Central Saturday in a doubleheader.
