Wawasee Baseball: Warriors Rally For NLC Win
SYRACUSE – Wawasee has seen its fair share of conference heartache in recent years. Wednesday was a chance for the Warriors to turn the tables, doing so in an 8-7 come-from-behind win over Elkhart Memorial.
Spencer Prescott ripped a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh, capping a miraculous six-run final inning that had Memorial leading 7-2 entering the final at-bat. Levi Brown also had a two-run double in the inning, to which Wawasee drew four walks, three hits and used a Memorial error to cap its first NLC win of the season.
Prescott had three RBIs in the game, and Jeremiah Bess had an RBI double for the Warriors.
Josh Slabaugh got the win for Wawasee, working 3.2 innings, limiting the Memorial damage to two earned runs.
Brad Melendez had a two-run single for the Chargers.
The JV contest also went to Wawasee in an 11-6 final over the Chargers. Tony Garcia had three knocks and Brandon Baker added a pair of hits to aid the Warrior (3-2) cause.
Wawasee (4-4, 1-1 NLC) will visit NorthWood Friday in NLC play.
