Whitko Sports Wrap: April 15
Baseball
The Whitko baseball team earned a split with Heritage in a double header Saturday. The Wildcats defeated the Patriots 5-4 in game one but fell 6-5 in the second contest.
Alex Robbins picked up the win for Whitko in game one, going for five innings of work and recording three strikeouts. Whitko’s offense got a boost from Zach Hewitt’s two-run home run in the third inning to tie things 3-3. Hewitt and River West then scored in the fifth inning after an error on Heritage’s shortstop to put the Wildcats up 5-3.
In game two it was Landen Goff that went yard for Whitko. Goff finished the game 2-3 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs. But a three-run fifth inning for the Patriots helped the team seal the win and avoid the sweep by giving the Wildcats their first loss of the year.
Whitko is now 8-1 overall and hosts West Noble Monday night.
