Warsaw Altrusa Club Wins Major Award At Conference
WARSAW – Altrusa International of Warsaw has been awarded the Dr. Nina Fay Calhoun International Relations Award at the Altrusa District Six 61st Annual Conference held April 7-9 at the Swan Lake Resort near Plymouth. The Award is a memorial to the only international president who served two terms on the international aspect of the organization. In addition to the recognition, the club received a $100 donation.
The Award encourages and stimulates international relations, creates an awareness of other cultures and people of the world and recognizes outstanding club achievement in international relations.
The Warsaw club won the honor for their work supporting Breath of Life Haiti. After hearing about Breath of Life Haiti from Ashley Stills the organization’s Founder and President, club members assembled 150 clean hygiene kits for an upcoming Breath of Life Haiti mission trip led by Stills. Members provided washcloths, soap bars, toothpaste, toothbrushes and Q-tips. Later the members covered the cost to sponsor a new mother in a pregnancy class.
Club members also co-hosted the Conference with the Indiana Dunes and Huntington Altrusa Clubs. Altrusa International’s 100th birthday year-long celebration began at the Conference.
Altrusa International of Warsaw is part of the international nonprofit organization working in local communities to make them better through leadership, partnership and service. The local club has served our local community since 1973 and founded the Beaman Home and CASA.
