County BZA Approves Pickup Window For Business
WARSAW — During its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, April 11, in Warsaw, the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals approved a petition by Armstrong Holdings to install a drive through for a new business coming to the intersection of SR 13 and CR 500N, south of North Webster in Tippecanoe Township.
Previously the county BZA had approved a Lassus Handy Dandy gas and convenience store. The petition approved Tuesday will allow for a pickup window to be installed for Elmo’s Pizza and Subs, which will be part of the convenience store. Because the drive through will be installed, approval was also granted to reduce the number of parking spaces from 45 to 41.
In other business, an exception was granted for the annual “Hawg Waller” event of Kosciusko County ABATE. The event, covering three days, is typically held the weekend prior to the Fourth of July. It will be held at a new location this year on the west side of CR 650W at the intersection with CR 250N in Prairie Township near Hoffman Lake.
Restrictions were applied to the approval though. Any valid complaints will mean another hearing will be held before the BZA. Also, music and fireworks must cease by 11 p.m. each night of the event. Approval was given by the BZA for three years.
Other agenda items included:
• Stephen Stayer was granted a variance to allow a residence addition, increasing the roof pitch and creating usable space, on the north side of EMS D18 Lane, north of EMS D18C Lane in Van Buren Township at Dewart Lake.
• Cornelius Newsome was granted an exception to allow a third residence on one tract of ground on commercially zoned property on the west side of SR 15, north of Levi Lee Road in Plain Township. Newsome must get proper approvals and permits from both the area planning office and the county health department.
