UPDATE: Motorcycle Accident On Center Street
WARSAW — The driver of a motorcycle was injured after a vehicle turned into his lane of travel. The accident occurred at 5:32 p.m. on Saturday, April 8 at the intersection of East Center and South Roosevelt streets in Warsaw.
Nalli Rao, 78, Lake Street, Warsaw, was driving his Impala on Roosevelt Street. Rao came to a stop at the intersection and did not see any vehicles coming. Rao then turned right onto Center Street and was struck by a motorcycle.
Tanner Swihart, 20, East CR 350N, Warsaw, was driving his motorcycle east on Center Street. Swihart stated that Rao’s vehicle pulled out into his lane of travel. Swihart applied the brakes of his motorcycle but was unable to stop before colliding with the vehicle.
Witnesses told officers they saw Rao’s vehicle pull in front of Swihart’s motorcycle.
Swihart was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Because of the collision, he “flew” from the vehicle and landed on the road. Witnesses saw him stand up after the accident then fall back to the ground. Swihart was transported to Lutheran Hospital Fort Wayne for injuries. He has a possible broken bone in his right foot and severe pain in his hip.
