Grace Track: Lancer Win Huntington Invite
HUNTINGTON – The men’s track and field team for Grace scored 203 points to outdistance five other squads and capture the top spot at the Huntington Invitational on Saturday.
The host Huntington finished second with 126 points. The Grace women’s team ended fifth in the meet.
The Lancers racked up points in the throwing events, grabbing three of the top four spots in both the hammer and the javelin and going 1-2-3 in the discus.
Macallister Seitz placed first in the discus (153-feet-3) and second in the hammer (158-4). Isaac Stuckey took first in the javelin (157-3) and fourth in the hammer (154-4).
Thomas Hickerson had an impressive meet, placing second in three events including: javelin (143-10), triple jump (39-6) and long jump (20-9.25). Austin Keisling came in first in the triple jump (41-7.25).
Tyler Houvener ran a personal-best 4:05.45 to win the 1500-meter run and also placed second in the 800 (1:59.72). Additionally he ran on the winning 4×400 relay.
Sam Hall claimed the top spot in the 800 (1:58.02) and joined Houvener, Nolan Miller and Joel Zook on the 4×400 relay. Individually, Zook won the 400 (51.19), and Miller was third in the 400 hurdles (57.97).
Liz Fox was the lone winner on the women’s side. She captured the 800 race with a time of 2:35.47.
Hannah Treadway placed fifth in a trio of throwing events. She tossed a PR of 136-6 in the hammer, posted a mark of 117-2 in the discus, and threw 110-6 in the javelin.
Jesse Zvers ran to a fifth-place finish in the 3000 (11:38.93).
The Lancers head to Adrian, Mich., on Thursday to compete in the Don Kleinow Invitational.
