Edith J. McNeeley
Edith J. McNeeley, 82, of Akron, Ind. passed at 2:59 a.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital of Ft. Wayne, Ind.
She was born on July 31, 1934 in Newbern, Virginia to Robert Roy and Betty E. (Hedge) King.
She married on Feb. 5, 1954 in Pulaski, Virginia to Carlos “Douglas” McNeeley, who passed Oct. 4, 2003.
Edith was a homemaker.
She was a graduate of Pulaski High School. She attended Silver Creek Church of God of Silver Lake. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge of Rochester. She and her late husband were involved in many dance groups including square dancing and ballroom dancing. She enjoyed trips to Blue Chip and Four Winds Casinos with friends. She was always known for handing out candy to her friends and family. Edith loved to sit on the porch and watch traffic.
Survivors include son C. David and wife Kelly McNeeley, Indianapolis; grandchildren Shane McNeeley, St. Paul, Minn.,
Chanel Araiza and Austin Araiza, Indianapolis. Sisters Ruby Poore, Roanoke, Va., and Bonnie Harner, Hamstead, Md.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and brothers Roy Robert, Hubert Donald, and William Chester King.
Services will be 3 p.m., Saturday, April 8, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Thomas Craig officiating. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery, Pulaski, Va.
