WARSAW — Combined Community Services and Purdue Extension paired up to provide spring break fun for youth this week, April 4-6.
Mindy Wise and Jackie Franks, both Purdue Extension educators, directed a three-day workshop that included hands-on cooking experiences and physical activity.
The workshop, titled Spring Into Health, focused on healthy habits for kids, including healthy food choices and exercise. Some of the topics discussed include added sugar in foods and drinks, proper portion sizes and need amount of daily activity.
“What I wish someone would have told me at your age is to do hard things. Don’t quit or give up because something is difficult. And that goes for more than just exercise,” Wise told the kids after some intense introductory Zumba.
The workshop was free for kids but did require registration to attend. Eleven youth were registered.
