Sylvia Joy Helton
Sylvia Joy Helton, 74, Silver Lake, died at 1:58 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2017 in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
She was born July 24, 1942 in Pikeville, Ky. to Glover and Alpha (Pinson) Charles. On Sept. 12, 1981 she married Carl “Dude” Helton. He died Jan. 3, 2011.
She retired from Invensys Controls, North Manchester after several years of service. She was a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake. She loved working in her flowers, bird watching and watching the squirrels in her yard. She was an avid shopper and enjoyed going to garage sales. She loved kids and her dog “Pepper.” Sylvia was a very giving person and volunteered at the Silver Lake food pantry.
She is survived by one son, Robert (Teresa) Goble, Silver Lake; step sons, James and Kenneth; step daughters, Shirley and Mary; grandchildren, Kiersten Wireman, Kaitlyn Wireman and Brooke Wireman.
Three brothers, Lance Charles, Raymond Charles and James Charles, and two sisters, Faye Sexton and Irene Pinson, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 5 at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, 303 S. Jefferson, Silver Lake and one hour prior to service on Thursday. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 6 at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, 303 S. Jefferson, Silver Lake. Pastor Frank Whitaker will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
