Erba Earns Marathon Title
WEST LAFAYETTE – Scott Erba celebrated his birthday a week early with another championship performance over the weekend.
Erba, the former girls track and cross country coach at WCHS, ran a personal best to repeat as champion of the Circular Logic Marathon on West Lafayette.
Erba covered the course in a winning time of 2:42.30, a 7:35 improvement. The Circular Logic Marathon is a 1-mile course covered 26 times with an extra .2 mile spur added to the first loop of the race.
“It was certainly challenging and pushed me to my limits, but it was also great feedback on the training I have been able to do and gives me some guidance about what I need to do moving on from this point forward,” said Erba in an email. “Running a PR a week shy of my 48th birthday is not too bad.”
David Hoffert of Warsaw placed 10th and Nate Howett of Warsaw was 11th in a personal best time of 3:20.25 in the marathon.
