Don’t Forget, Husky Trail Closed To Through Traffic Starting Today
WARSAW — Construction on Phase 1 of the Husky Trail project in Warsaw officially begins today, April 3.
Phase 1 road closures include the Mariner Drive and Husky Trail intersection and Husky Trail from Mariners Drive to just south of North Pointe Drive. No through traffic will be permitted during construction in Phase 1. All through traffic will be directed to the posted detour.
All traffic to businesses on Mariners Drive including YMCA, Parkview, Harrison Elementary School will have access to North Pointe Drive from the north during Phase 1.
City officials expect the construction process to be an adjustment as the public gets used to the detours. “We’re here, it’s gonna happen, it’s not gonna be easy,” said Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer during a public information meeting on the project. Anyone with confusion regarding the construction or access should not hesitate to contact city officials.
Local and emergency traffic will have access through the entirety of the project.
Phase 1 is expected to last until early August. At that point, phase 2 will begin and a new set of detours will be made available for the public. When completed, the project will include sidewalks on both sides of the street, street lights, a dedicated turning lane and a roundabout at the Mariner Drive and Husky Trail intersection. The whole project is expected to be finished near the end of October.
