Jeannette Louise Drawbaugh of Warsaw passed away surrounded by family at 10:25 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse at the age of 78.
She was the first child of Walter August Hahn and Irene Alma (Bertram) Hahn and was born on Oct. 29, 1938 in Fort Wayne.
The Covenant of God’s Grace through Holy Baptism was bestowed upon her on Nov. 20, 1938 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.
The Covenant of God’s Grace was affirmed by Jeannette in her confirmation on May 25, 1952 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Psalm 145, verses 18 and 19 are her confirmation verse: “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.”
The Goodness of God’s Grace was given to her on Nov. 30, 1963 when she was joined in Holy Marriage to Galen Drawbaugh at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Their marriage was blessed with three children Naomi Joy, Timothy Galen and Faith Jeannine.
Following her husband’s ordination into the ministry of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod she and her husband served congregations in Drayton Valley and Tomahawk in Alberta, Canada; Sylvania, Ohio; Milwaukee and Mayville, Wisconsin. They served several congregations as an Intentional Interim Pastor in Iowa, Michigan and Indiana following her husband’s retirement during which he also served as the Indiana District’s Coordinator of Intentional Interim Ministries.
The Coronation of God’s Grace was given to her on March 31 when the Lord bestowed upon her the crown of everlasting life which he promised Jeannette in her baptism when he said, “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee the crown of life.”
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Galen Drawbaugh (Warsaw,); son, Timothy Drawbaugh and his wife Chikako (Tokyo, Japan); and two daughters, Naomi Beale and her husband Terry (Portland, Oregon); Faith Doyle and her husband Tony (Warsaw). Also surviving are seven grand-children: Lindsay, Luke and Jared Beale; Joshua Drawbaugh; and Adam, Sarah and Rachel Doyle; brother, Dennis Hahn and his wife Janet (Northfield, Minnesota); and her sister, Jane Turnbow and her husband Bob (Loudon, Tennessee).
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by one grand-daughter, Christine Hope Beale in 1994.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 3 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. There will also be an hour of calling prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. 0n Tuesday, April 4 at Redeemer Lutheran Church of Warsaw.
Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1720 E Center Street, Warsaw and officiated by Reverend Roger Rohde and Reverend Michael Mueller. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
Memorial donations in Jeannette’s memory may be designated to St. John’s Lutheran School, 520 Bridge Street, Mayville, Wisconsin 53050; Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 3705 S. Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne, Indiana 46806; or to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1720 E. Center Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580 and would be appreciated by the family.
