Grace Track: Treadway Leads Lancers In Invite
RENSSELAER, Ind. – The Grace College track and field team had its second weekend of the outdoor competition on Saturday at the Saint Joseph’s Invitational.
Four athletes hit the qualifying standard for NCCAA Nationals in the meet, and six Lancers won their respective events.
Hannah Treadway picked up three top-two finishes on the day. She was first in the hammer at 131-feet-11, and placed second in the discus (122-7) and javelin (117-6).
Thomas Hickerson, who like Treadway qualified for NCCAA Nationals, finished second in his first collegiate meet. He finished second in the javelin with a toss of 148-11.
Sam Hall won the 800-meter race and met the NCCAA mark in a time of 1:56.62. Ross Armey in the 400 hurdles (56.63), Macallister Seitz in the discus (153-2), Joel Zook in the 400 (51.87), and Tyler Houvener in the 1500 (4:14.14) all won their events on the men’s side.
Jacob Brown had a second-place showing in the hammer at 158-0, and Caleb Brown qualified for NCCAAs in the discus as 138-1.
Jessica Zvers ended in second in the 1500 with a time of 5:26.93, and McCalah Mast was third in the 800 at 2:35.38.
Other PRs in the meet include: Edison Snyder (400), Caleb Brown and William Shafer (discus), and Josh Dudeck, Brianna Tuttle and Savannah Hart (hammer).
“This was a very small meet, and we held a few people out because of illness or minor injuries. However, we still had some very solid performances so I’m pleased with our effort,” said Grace coach Jeff Raymond. “Specific performances that stood out were Hannah Treadway competing well in three different throwing events, Sam Hall’s effort in the 800 and Ross Armey in the 400 hurdles. Also, it was great to see Thomas Hickerson qualify for the NCCAA meet in his first-ever javelin competition.”
The Lancers will compete at the Huntington Invitational on April 8.
