Mayor Thallemer Welcomes Altrusa Club At Council
WARSAW — Mayor Joe Thallemer welcomed members of the Warsaw Altrusa Club at last night’s Common Council meeting, March 30.
Altrusa International is celebrating its 100th birthday on April 11. In honor of the organization’s birthday, Thallemer proclaimed April 11 Altrusa Day.
Council member Diane Quance asked Altrusa President Sue Creighton to take a moment and inform the audience of what Altrusa has accomplished or helped accomplish in Warsaw. The list includes spearheading the Beaman Home and CASA, assisting at the Baker Youth Club and sponsoring a mother in college through Combined Community Service’s Project Independence.

City Planner Jeremy Skinner presented the annual financial report for the redevelopment commission. The report outlines all projects, broken down by their tax increment financing district, and their budgets and expenditures. New to this year’s report, Skinner has added a short history of each TIF district.
Representatives with Flexaust were present as Skinner presented a 10-year tax abatement for the company. Flexaust is looking to add 25,000 square feet of additional manufacturing space between three locations: 602 Leiter Drive, 1605 W. Center St., and 1510 Armstrong Road, all of Warsaw. The project is expected to cost $1.65 million.
In addition, Flexaust is seeking a 10-year tax abatement on $5.46 million is personal property equipment for its Leiter Drive and Armstrong Road locations. The additions are expected to generate at least 15 new manufacturing jobs.
“We have four facilities across the US…We’d like to be here. Indiana’s been good to us,” said a Flexaust representative.
The board passed the abatement without discussion.
