Wawasee Baseball: The Carousel Keeps Spinning
WABASH – After a huge opener, Wawasee kept the offensive foot on the gas in a 22-6 baseball win at Wabash Wednesday afternoon.
The Warriors, which crushed Bethany Christian 23-2 in Tuesday’s season opener, were actually trailing 4-3 before the flood gates opened up in the fourth. Jamie Slabaugh had an RBI single, Gavin Barker added a two-run double and Spencer Prescott drove in two more with a single. Grahm Reinhard made it 10-4 with a two-run single.
Jacob Garcia added another two-run double in the fifth and Rylan Kuhn brought home two with a single as another 11 runs came home.
Prescott had a two-run double in the first inning as part of his three-hit, five-RBI game that also had him reach base five times and score three runs. Kuhn walked three times and scored four runs and Barker had two hits and four runs scored.
Justin Beauchamp had a two-run double to pace the Apaches, which as a team only had one hit the entire game but drew six walks and utilized two Wawasee errors to plate two runs.
Wawasee (2-0) will visit Manchester Thursday afternoon.
