Soil and Water Conservation District Receives RCD Grant
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — The Arrow Head Country Resource Conservation and Development Area, Inc met in Winamac, Indiana recently to award over $55,000 in grants to fifteen groups from seven counties in the RC&D area. During this meeting, Arrow Head was pleased to award $2500 to Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District to fund a rain simulator. This model will be used as an educational tool at multiple events throughout the year to demonstrate the value of conservation land practices to soil health and water quality.
Arrow Head Country RC&D has given over $185,000 in grants during the past 3 years to all ten member counties. It is a non-profit organization comprised of Cass, Fulton, Jasper, Kosciusko, Marshall, Miami, Newton, Pulaski, Starke and White counties. The purpose of the organization is to provide local leadership for developing and carrying out a plan for the orderly conservation, improvement, development and wise use of the natural resources, thereby improving the quality of life for all the people living in the area.
“The Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District appreciates having its rain simulator project selected for funding,” commented Darci Zolman, SWCD Program Administrator. “This will be a useful tool to help us deliver our conservation message.”
