NorthWood Softball: Lions Tame The Panthers
NAPPANEE – A pair of big innings did in NorthWood Thursday night in its season opener against Bremen. The Lions post a four-spot then added six more in back-to-back innings to run-rule NorthWood, 13-3, in softball action at Stauffer Park.
Erin Coffel had a monster game for the Lions, going 4-4 with a homer, three runs scored and a pair of RBIs. Carly Snyder was 3-3 with two runs and Rylee Hershberger, Shannon Arndt and Kaelyn Shively all drove in three runs.
Arndt went four innings, allowing three hits and three runs, striking out eight to get the win, her second in as many games.
Amanda Jenkins and Gracie Clark each had two hits and combined for all three RBIs for the Panthers in its season opener. Hannah Stickley gave up seven runs in three-plus innings of work in taking the loss in the circle.
Bremen (2-0) will visit Fairfield Friday while NorthWood (0-1) will travel to Tippecanoe Valley on Monday.
