Evelyn Stouder
Evelyn Stouder, 94, Nappanee, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa. She was surrounded by loving family members at the time of her death.
Evelyn was born July 7, 1922 to J. W. and Bessie (Gall) Weybright and lived in Nappanee most of her life.
Evelyn was predeceased by her son, James Stouder and is survived by her children, Jerry Stouder, Warsaw, Patricia (Steve) Fredericks, Goshen, Brian (Valentina) Stouder, Ohio, Dennis (Gloria) Stouder, Elkhart; and daughter-in-law, Linda Stouder, Warsaw.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Gerald Weybright, Robert Weybright, and a sister, Opal Rowdabaugh. She is survived by a brother, Dr. Bill (Susan) Weybright, Goshen, sisters, Dorothy Baker, Joan Sizemore, and Julia (Rich) Brookins. She had 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Evelyn spent many years as a hard-working farm wife. She and her husband, Earl Stouder, who preceded her in death, were active members of Union Center Church of the Brethren for many years. She was church organist for many of those years. Since 1977, she attended Nappanee Missionary Church.
Evelyn spent many of her retirement years helping to care for her grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and especially loved growing and caring for flowers. She also loved music and continued to play piano and organ in her senior years at home.
According to her wishes, she will be cremated and the family will host a gathering in remembrance of her life from 2-5, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Inurnment will take place at Baintertown Cemetery at a later date.
