ELKHART — Evan S. Roberts, Elkhart Superior Court 1 Judge, who was appointed as special judge in the cases against C. Aaron Rovenstine has relinquished his appointment. It is expected he will also relinquish his appointment in the cases against Mark Soto and Kevin Bronson.
Roberts filed the notification with the court Wednesday, March 22. In the notice Roberts stated “I am unable to fulfill my duties as special judge at this time due to illness.” Documents note he has been advised the parties have reached an agreement as to the appointment of a successor special judge in the matter. But no name was listed.
Counsel for the state and the defense are to file their stipulation with the court immediately. A telephonic conference call with the attorneys on record will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 28.
Roberts was appointed by the Terry Shewmaker, chief judge of the Administrative Judicial District 5, March 11, 2016.
