NorthWood Golf: Panthers Part Of Loaded HOF Invite
WEST LAFAYETTE – The NorthWood girls golf team has been one of the top teams in the state in recent years, and has been recognized as such by receiving an invite to compete in the 2017 Hall of Fame Invite.
The event, to be held Aug. 26 at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex on the campus of Purdue University and hosted by West Lafayette High School, is a showcase of several of the top girls golf teams in the state. NorthWood is among 19 teams, including seven of the top 11 teams from the 2016 IHSAA State Finals, of those state runner-up Westfield, third-place Columbus North and top-five finishers Zionsville and Carmel.
NorthWood, which won the sectional before finishing fourth at the regional and missing state qualification, graduates just two from its tournament roster in Summer Stillson and Alaina Benjamin. Incoming juniors Mackenzie Weaver and Abby Slabaugh along with seniors Madison Richner and Holly Cripe give NorthWood a very strong returning core group.
NorthWood will play in its fourth HOF Invite, also taking part in 2010, 2013 and 2016. Play will begin at 1 p.m. at Ackerman-Allen Golf Course at the Birck Complex.
