Sgt. Chad Hill, with the Kosciusko County 911 Communication Center, stated that since the onset of the snow/sleet mixture this morning, there has be a total of 24 vehicle crashes and or slide-offs reported as of noon.
Of those crashes, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Mentone and Parkview E.M.S., responded to the area of 7348 South, SR 19 this morning at 7:50 a.m. in regards to a personal injury crash involving a Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation school bus. Kersten Turner, 23, Mentone, was attempting to turn into a private driveway when her vehicle was stuck from behind by a school bus being driven by Connie Shewman, 76, Akron. Turner was taken to Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, in fair condition. Sheriff’s Deputies stated that none of the 35 students on board the school bus, nor the driver, were reportedly injured.
This mornings constantly changing weather conditions with the arriving precipitation made for treacherous driving as roadways changed from snow-covered to a layer of ice.
