IHSAA Sets Boys Hoops Semistate Sites
INDIANAPOLIS – The playing sites are set for the team involved in the semistate round of the boys basketball state tournament series.
The IHSAA announced the sites Sunday for the final 16 teams involved in the semistates, which are set to be played this coming Saturday.
Merrillville, which beat Warsaw 50-46 Saturday night to win the Class 4-A Michigan City Regional crown, will face Fort Wayne North at Huntington North. The Pirates, who are 21-7, will face North (26-2) in the second game at Huntington at approximately 6 p.m. (ET).
The North Semistate at Huntington North opens Saturday with the Class 3-A game at 4 p.m. pitting Fort Wayne Luers (19-7) versus Twin Lakes (24-3).
Lafayette Jefferson High School will host the other North Semistate. Lafayette Central Catholic (21-6) will meet Gary-21st Century (19-8) at 1 p.m. (ET) in the Class 1-A game. The Class 2-A game between Frankton (21-6) and Michigan City Marquette (19-9) will follow.
The South Semistates will be hosted by Seymour and Richmond. At Seymour, Evansville Bosse (20-7) faces Indianapolis Crispus Attucks (23-4) at 1 p.m. in the Class 3-A game, with the Class 4-A contest between Castle (24-3) and Ben Davis (21-5) to follow. At Richmond, New Washington (20-9) plays Tindley (22-5) in the Class 1-A game at 4 p.m., followed by the Class 2-A game between Crawford County (21-6) and Heritage Christian (17-9).
The semistate winners earn a spot in the State Finals set for March 25 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Class 1-A title game begins at 10:30 a.m. with the Class 2-A finale to follow. The Class 3-A is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the Class 4-A championship contest to follow.
