North Webster Library Hosts Writer’s Corner
NORTH WEBSTER — Whether you’re an aspiring author or someone who just likes to write, writer’s corner at North Webster Community Public Library is a place to come together to share, encourage and sharpen your literary skills.
Writer’s corner is a group of people who enjoy writing and meets at 10:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. Each month, the group is assigned to write about a specific subject. At the March 20 meeting, each will be sharing their compositions about a birthday party. Next month’s assignment is to write about their favorite Wizard of Oz character. As the group shares and examines each other’s work, constructive suggestions are offered and discussed. Grammar and spelling are not critiqued, only written expression. So if you have a literary bent, join writer’s orner and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow writers.
If you would rather read what others write, R.E.A.D. Book Club also meets at 5:30 on the third Monday of each month. R.E.A.D. stands for Read, Eat And Discuss, because that’s what this group does – nibbles on refreshments while discussing books. At the March 20 meeting, the club will discuss Anathema, an Amish romance mystery by Colleen Coble. Even if you haven’t read the book, feel free to come and listen to the discussion. April’s book selection, Midwives: A Novel by Chris Bohjalian, will also be available. It is a contemporary classic about a rural midwife dedicated to bringing new life into the world who is charged with causing a patient’s tragic death.
In addition to writer’s corner and R.E.A.D. Book Club, the library offers other regular monthly programs. Voyager Book Club meets at 10 a.m. on the fourth Monday. This book club focuses on a specific genre each month in which everyone reads a book of their own choosing to share and discuss. Revolving Recipe Round-Up meets monthly at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday to share and sample recipes.
Programs, classes and special events are scheduled each month and listed on the library’s website and Facebook page. Printed calendars and newsletters are also available at the library.
