Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
8:15 p.m. Friday, March 3, East Arthur Street, east of North Main Street, Sidney. Driver: Elizabeth R, Foutz, 16, West CR 1000S, South Whitley. Foutz reached back in her vehicle to quiet an electronic baby she had for class, taking her eyes off the road and hitting a utility pole in the alley. Damage up to $5,000.
7:26 a.m. Sunday, March 5, East CR 700N, north of North Harper Road, Leesburg. Driver: Durke C. Phillips, 31, Downy Drive, Warsaw. Phillips had been at a local strip bar in North Webster when he claimed he got into a fight and left, heading back to Warsaw around 2:30 a.m. He stated he wasn’t from this area and was heading westbound on CR 700 when he missed a curve and went off the road. His vehicle landed in a field and was found at 7:25 a.m. Phillips was transported to Fort Wayne. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
12:03 p.m. Saturday, March 4, CR 300N, west of Sheldon Street, Warsaw. Drivers: William A. Long, 45, South SR 13, Pierceton, and Roger W. Erickson, 56, Chapman Lake Drive, Warsaw. Long swerved to miss an animal in the road; Erickson swerved to avoid a collision but was side swiped by long. Damage up to $10,000.
1:12 p.m. Saturday, March 4, East Center Street and North Harrison Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jesse M. Hand, 71, SR 205, Garrett, and Evan J. Schmidt, 19, Sally Street, Warsaw. Hand entered the intersection on a red light and collided with Schmidt. Damage up to $5,000.
1:42 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 3600 Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Susan M. Fox, 74, Timber Park Drive, Dayton, Ohio. Fox collided with a parked vehicle was pulling into a parking space. Damage up to $2,500.
12:42 p.m. Monday, March 6, CR 350 N, east of North Detroit Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Thomas E. Fraustein, 55, East CR 1000 South, La Fontaine, and Greg W. Rauen, 64, Fairlane Drive, Warsaw. Fraustein and Rauen were westbound on CR 350N; Rauen attempted to go around Fraustein, whom he thought was waiting to get to the intersection. Fraustein turned to enter the Tecomet parking lot and was struck in the passenger side by Rauen. Damage up to $10,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
1:08 p.m. Sunday, March 5, North Indiana Avenue and East CR 1400N, Syracuse. Drivers: Rachelle R. Castro, 33, Engle Lake Road, Ligonier, and Elmer J. Hochstetler, 67, North CR 675W, Shipshewana. Castro turned into the intersection in front of Hochstetler. Hochstetler could not stop in time and collided with Castro. Hochstetler complained of neck and chest pain and was transported to Goshen General Hospital. Damage up to $25,000.
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster police department investigated the following accident:
5:28 p.m. Saturday, March 4, East Washington Street and the alley behind Pilcher’s. Drivers: Jane A. Riley, 24, South Main Street, North Webster, and Melissa D. Small, 31, South East Street, North Webster. Riley pulled out onto East Washington Street when a glare blocked her view. She collided with Small’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Silver Lake
Officers with the Silver Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
9:45 p.m. Saturday, March 4, South SR 15 and West Dixie Drive, Silver Lake. Driver: Dawn E. Robbins, 42, North Mallard Road, North Manchester. Robbins collided with a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
Elkhart
Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
12:24 p.m. Sunday, March 5, CR 19 east of SR 15, south of Goshen. Driver: Linda Cripe, 64, Syracuse. Cripe complained of pain to the neck and was taken to Goshen Hospital. Cripe’s vehicle went off the south side of the roadway hitting a mailbox, then a tree.
