WARSAW — Though best known for books, public libraries also offer a variety of resources, including but not limited to technology help, research materials, DVDs and CDs for loan and educational programs for all ages.
Warsaw Community Public Library offers all of this and more, none of which would be possible without the support of the local community.
WCPL participates in Kroger Community Rewards, which allows shoppers to support the library while shopping.
Customers with a Plus Card can create an account at owensmarket.com/communityrewards, then link it by searching for the library by name or by organization number 88503.
When a person uses his or her Plus Card at any Owen’s or other Kroger store, the library receives a quarterly donation based on that person’s purchases. Patrons can log into their accounts at any time to see how much they have earned for the library during the previous quarter.
“We’ve been pleased with the community support, and the way the library is benefiting from this program,” WCPL Library Director Ann Zydek said.
Accounts must be renewed once a year, in August. This can be done via the customer’s account under “account settings.”
Another way to help support the library is by sponsoring a brick. Individuals, groups, organizations and companies can choose from two different size options. Businesses can also purchase bricks with their logos on them.
Those simply wishing to give a donation can give any amount. The five donor levels include platinum, $1,000 or more; gold, $500-$1,000; silver, $250-$500; bronze, $100-$250; and library supporter, $99 or less. Donors receive recognition on the library website.
Gifts can be designated to a specific area of the library, such as community programs or a certain collection.
Anyone interested in making a donation to the library can call the office at (574) 267-6011.
