WARSAW — A Winona Lake town council member has been arrested again after violating a no contact order issued in December of 2016.
Petro Christos, 502 Chestnut St., Winona Lake, is being charged with stalking, a level 5 felony, and invasion of privacy, a class A misdemeanor.
The no contact order was issued in December after Christos was alleged to have pulled his wife by the hair to the floor and pin her down when an argument became heated. The incident occurred in front of one of their children.
According to court documents, Christos violated the no contact order on numerous occasions. The order states that Christos is not to “Harass, stalk, intimidate, threat or use physical force,” against his wife. It also states that Christos is not to visit any locations where he was aware his wife would be present.
A motion to remove the contact order was issued in December, however, no ruling has been made on the order.
According to court documents, Christos’ wife told police that on Jan. 11 she had seen Christos sitting in a car watching her as she went to the Winona Lake Post Office. On Jan. 28, Christos left flowers for her at her residence.
On four different occasions, from Feb. 15 to Feb. 21, the victim told police that Christos had been sitting in a car watching her as she dropped off their child at school. On Feb. 22 and Feb. 23, an officer observed Christos sitting in a car across the street from the school, watching his wife drop their child off at school.
Christos was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 23 on a bond of $1,500 cash.
