Action Film Reviews From The Warsaw Community Public Library

WARSAW — Lately there have been quite a few new DVD releases that are quite enjoyable and not a waste of time. Below I have recommended three that are surely to hold your interest for an hour or two.
At times it is very unusual to find poignancy in an action film. “The Account” manages to do this in a very rousing manner. Ben Affleck plays Christian Wolff, a guy suffering from a form of autism who has difficulties with interpersonal communication. Behind the cover of a small town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the most dangerous criminal organizations. He discovers that the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement division has him on radar and to divert them takes on a legitimate client, a robotics company that has a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. This is one of Ben Affleck’s better roles.
While I am no longer a fan of Tom Cruise, I do like his performances in the Jack Reacher films, especially in the new one called “Jack Reacher, Never go back”. The film is an old-school, red-blooded action movie with a little bit of schmaltziness mixed in for good measure. In this film Jack Reacher is trying to clear Major Susan Turner, played by Cobie Smulders, who has been arrested and charged with treason. He breaks her out of prison, and they go on the run trying to clear her name. If you dig action movies, you are certain to enjoy this film. We also have the first Jack Reacher film, if you’d like to have a Jack Reacher marathon.
“Keeping up with the Joneses” is a film to watch when you don’t want to think. The Gaffneys’ have a boring life until the arrival of their new neighbors the Joneses. The Joneses are sophisticated and worldly, which makes the Gaffney’s a little envious and they soon find themselves in the center of a storm of international espionage that gives them a breathtaking glimpse of life outside their cul-de-sac. If you are a fan of John Hamm and Zach Galifianakis you will enjoy this!
