Zimmer Biomet Employee Steals Debit Card From Coworker, Makes Fraudulent Charges
WARSAW — A Zimmer Biomet employee was recently arrested after a victim reported his debit card stolen at work and fraudulent charges were made at local businesses.
Brent Anthony Odom, 54, 8366 Misty Drive, Indianapolis, is being charged with two counts of fraud, level six felonies, and theft, a class A misdemeanor.
On Jan. 4, a victim reported that he lost his credit card at the Biomet cafeteria. He thought he used his card and missed his pocket and unknowingly dropped it on the floor. The victim checked his bank account and noticed fraudulent charges.
The card was used at the Warsaw Meijer for a $30 transaction, the Warsaw Walmart for a $106.57 transaction and another Walmart location for an attempted $587.43 transaction. The first two transactions went through but the third and largest transaction was denied.
Meijer loss prevention was able to provide surveillance video of the first transaction to officers. A Walmart surveillance video showed the same individual purchasing food items with the victim’s debit card. The officers then had Zimmer Biomet security check to see if the same person from the store videos was seen leaving the Zimmer Biomet campus on Jan. 4. Security was able to identify the subject as Odom, an employee of Zimmer Biomet.
Odom was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 23 with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
