Mentone Teen Sentenced In Aiding A Burglary
WARSAW — A Mentone teen was sentenced in connection to a home invasion and burglary today, Feb. 20.
Taylor C. Brandon, 18, was sentenced for aiding, inducing or causing a felony, a class A misdemeanor, after aiding her boyfriend, Daricus Phillips, 20, in a burglary.
On Nov. 7, Warsaw Police responded to Oak Brooke Place on the east side of Warsaw for a home invasion that had just taken place.
The homeowners neighbor, Brandon’s boyfriend, and another black male, with a red bandana covering his face, forced their way into the residence.
The man with the red bandana struck the homeowner in the face with an object wrapped in a towel. The intruders eventually fled after taking a Playstation 4, a cell phone, cash and some marijuana.
Police searched the area and found Brandon and her boyfriend at a nearby gas station and took them into custody.
Brandon’s attorney, Christopher Kehler, told the courts that Brandon is no longer associated with the two suspects and has since moved out of the county.
Judge Michael Reed accepted the plea agreement, finding Brandon guilty of aiding, inducing or causing a felony, and sentenced her to one year at the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. Brandon will be allowed to serve the time on work release. She will receive 78 days jail time credit.
