Parkview Warsaw Demonstrates Mock ER Trauma For Warsaw High School Students
WARSAW — Students at Warsaw Community High School got a taste of some real-life experience in the ER at Parkview Warsaw today, Feb. 17.
Sixteen students in teacher Rose Love’s honors medical innovations class at the Warsaw Community High School were invited to Parkview Warsaw to experience what happens when patients come into the trauma center.
Two students in the class were chosen to be the patients in the trauma scenario. The two students were taken out of the room and wheeled back by paramedics with bandages and fake blood. As personnel treated the boys, it was learned the patients had been in a car accident involving a semi.
Medical personnel treated the two boys and explained to students the procedures they go through each time an individual is admitted into the ER.
Students observed medical personnel ask a standard list of questions, take blood pressure and vitals of the patients and get a basic assessment of the victims’ conditions.
