Jeanette Bills
Jeanette Bills, 83, Columbia City, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 14, 2017 at Oak Pointe.
She was born Feb. 12, 1934 in Whitley County, a daughter of Valmont and Beryl (Weeks) Fry. Her formative years were spent in Columbia City where she attended McClellan School. As a teenager, her family moved to Fort Wayne where she attended North Side High School.
On Aug. 26, 1950 she was united in marriage to Gerald E. Bills. They made their home in Columbia City until 1952 when they moved to Etna Troy Township. In January 2013 they moved to Oak Pointe.
Jeanette worked for Blue Bell for a few years and then General Electric.
She attended New Hope Wesleyan Church and was a member of Gideons International and Prison Fellowship, assisting Gerald as jail chaplain at Whitley County Sheriff Department for 35 years.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Gerald; three children, Kenneth E. (Katherine) Bills of Columbia City; Kathryn D. Bills of Clermont, Fla.; and Terrilyn E. (Jerry “Grub”) Zumbrun of Columbia City; 11 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two twin great great grandsons; and a sister, Jayne Druley of Columbia City.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas D. Bills; a granddaughter; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Jack Fry, Jerry Fry and Jerome Fry; and two sisters, Joy Lewis and Judy Hosler.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
