Joe Claude Simmons, Winona Lake, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis at the age of 65.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1951 in Bedford to Vivian A. Simmons and Neva (Owens) Simmons. On April 16, 1977 in Servia to Sue Elaine (Kreider) Simmons, who survives in Winona Lake.
Joe was a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for the past 33 years. He was a graduate of Manchester High School in North Manchester and then attended Purdue University where he received his Bachelor of Arts and Education degree in 1975. He worked for DePuy in Warsaw for over 30 years as an orthopedic sales representative.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Warsaw and Stonehenge Golf Club. Joe loved the outdoors and traveling to Longboat Key, Florida with his family for 35 years. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and mushroom hunting but most of all he especially loved spending time with his family and granddaughters.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son: Brad (wife Whitney) Simmons, Westfield; daughter: Abbie (husband Russ) Mann, Carmel; and two grandchildren: Ava and Annie Mann. He also leaves behind his father: Vivian A. Simmons, North Manchester; and sister: Sally (husband Bob) Vaccaro, Mansfield, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
His memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at First United Methodist Church of Warsaw, 179 S. Indiana Street, Warsaw and officiated by Pastor Mark Need. There will be time for visitation prior to the service from noon-2 p.m. at the church on Saturday, Feb. 18. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
