Eight local wrestlers were part of the lengthy Academic All-State lists issued by the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association.

The awards were split into four categories, with juniors and seniors given Academic All-State and each grade also given Honorable Mention Academic All-State.

Triton’s Bryce Swihart with his 3.92 grade point average and Warsaw’s Riley Hogenson at 4.1 were both tabbed senior Academic All-State while Ryan Snyder of Triton at 4.139 and Hunter Warren of NorthWood at 3.85 were named Academic All-State in the junior class.

Mikey Edwards and Garrett Griffin of NorthWood, Dylan Warner of Tippecanoe Valley and Kyle Hatch of Warsaw were named Honorable Mention Academic All-State seniors.

Other area seniors on the Academic All-State team include Mason Cross of Northridge, Trevor Kelley of Churubusco, Kassius Breathitt of South Bend Riley, Nate Bowser and Nick Bowser of Fairfield, Jared Kazmierczak of South Bend St. Joe, Jared Horban of South Bend Clay, Jacob Elkins of Columbia City and Trace Manspeaker of Penn.

Honorable Mention seniors include JT Kilgore of Churubusco, William Kearney of Culver Academy, Josiah Hand of East Noble, David Eli and Tristan Goering of Elkhart Memorial, Dillon Yoder, Jaylen Yoder and Sylvanus Miller of Fairfield, Erik Contreras of Goshen, Dalton Heintzenberger and Kenny Kerrn of Jimtown, Carlos DeFault of Mishawaka, Jackson Jacobs of Northridge, Haden Hensley of Penn, Colten Schuler of Plymouth, Mitchell Hayden of South Bend Clay, Carl Horvath of South Bend Riley, Tristen Moreno of South Bend St. Joe and Braden Tankersley of Winamac.

Area juniors on the Academic All-State team include Aiden Benysh of Wabash, Dan Wickersham, Owen Eveler and Evan Luebbehusen of Northridge, Nate LaFree and Sam Stayton of Plymouth, Austin Brandenberger of Fairfield, Harry Tucker of South Bend Clay, Isaiah McWilliams of South Bend Washington, Wyatt Dyson of North Miami, Adam Davis and Michael Boland of Culver Academy, Chad Elliott of Southwood and Joe Leazier of Churubusco.

Honorable Mention juniors include Adam Brooke and Dante Dalmaso of Culver Academy, Xander Stroud and Nick Connor of Elkhart Central, Bryton Goering of Elkhart Memorial, Caleb Shively of Fairfield, Fernando Flores and Connor Fletcher of Goshen, Dillion Heintzberger of Jimtown, Alex Faulkner of Mishawaka, Conner Graber of Northridge, Dalton Working of North Miami and Codie Sarll of Southwood.
