NorthWood Basketball: Panthers Best Bruins
GOSHEN – The NorthWood boys basketball team bounced back in a big way Saturday night.
The Class 3-A No. 3 Panthers rolled past host Bethany Christian 69-48 in non-conference play.
NorthWood was coming off a 59-52 loss at the hands of Elkhart Memorial Friday night in its Northern Lakes Conference finale.
The Panthers led 15-11 after the opening period and 34-29 at halftime before taking control with a big third quarter. NorthWood outscored the Bruins 13-4 in the third frame to take a 47-33 lead.
Caleb Lung turned in a big effort to pace the Panthers with 19 points to go with nine rebounds.
Vinny Miranda tallied 15 points and Trey Bilinski 13 for NorthWood. Luke Zurcher added 10.
NorthWood shot 27-48 overall from the field, but were just 1-10 from distance and 14-27 from the free throw line.
Lucas Browsnberger-Keyes led Bethany Christian with 18 points.
The hosts shot 14-29 from the field and hit 10 treys in 17 attempts. The Bruins were 10-14 from the line.
NorthWood improves to 17-2, while Bethany falls to 3-13 with its sixth straight loss.
NorthWood won the junior varsity game 67-29. Kaden Gongwer led the way with 21 points.
NorthWood hosts Elkhart Christian Academy Friday night. Bethany Christian hosts Jimtown Tuesday night.
