Silver Lake Town Council Meeting Focuses On Proposed Wastewater And Storm Sewer Improvement Project
SILVER LAKE — Most of the conversation at the Silver Lake town council meeting on Feb. 8 revolved around an OCRA grant and the proposed wastewater and storm sewer improvement project that is being looked at.
Mark Sullivan from Midwestern Engineering attended the meeting to share specifics regarding the project plans. Sullivan stated that the main issue relates to the the fact that the one common force main is too small for all three pumps to pump at the same time, resulting in each station not running at the full capacity they are capable of. Proposed ideas are to either increase the size of the force main and/or build a parallel force main from the lift station. In addition, new pumps need to be put in at the main pump station.
Sullivan also stated that, regarding stormwater issues, it is proposed that storm sewers need to be put in four areas, including an area north of West Dixie Drive where there is a large field.
Total cost for the entire project is estimated at $951,725
A $500,000 grant is being applied for. The community’s local share would be 47 percent of the cost.
