Make Plans For Spring 2017 At North Webster Community Center
NORTH WEBSTER — North Webster Community Center has a lot scheduled for the next few months.
In addition to all of the regular activities such as pickleball, volleyball, yoga, open gym time, walking, monthly painting class and cardio drumming, it will have the Kid’s Business Fair March 11, FAST Defense March 19, Easter celebration April 15, annual spring garage sale April 29 and Fiesta Fundraiser May 5.
For those interested in the Kid’s Business Fair, the cost to participate is $10 and registration forms may be found at the community center office or the Facebook page. The Kid’s Business Fair is a great opportunity for children from all over Kosciusko County in kindergarten through eighth grade to showcase their talents by selling their crafts or ideas.
Cash prizes are awarded for best presentation, most original idea and highest business potential in each of the age categories, which are kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grade and sixth through eighth grade.
A free personal safety class for ages 13 and up will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19. This free 1 1/2-hour introduction to FAST Defense will provide a brief overview of the ABC’s of self-defense. This is a perfect class for teenagers as they prepare to go on spring break but all ages can benefit from the skills being taught. Space is limited to the first 12 students. Register today by calling (574) 834-1600, ext. 221.
A community Easter celebration will happen from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at the NWCC, immediately following the North Webster Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt at the Mermaid Festival Grounds. Lakeland Kiwanis Club will be providing a pancake, scrambled egg and sausage breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m. There will be several games and activities for children and families to enjoy. The Easter bunny will be available for pictures. While this is a free event to the community, they will be accepting donations for the local food pantry.
The spring garage sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 29. Reservations for booth space on a first come, first serve basis will be taken starting Monday, Feb. 13. Registration forms will be available at the community center office. Cost for a booth is $30. All proceeds go to support the center. This is a true garage sale. Crafters and retail businesses are encouraged to participate in the NWCC Open Air Market during Dixie Day Festival Saturday, July 29.
A Fiesta Fundraiser is coming up 6 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, to benefit the center. Enjoy the music from Sum of 3, a taco dinner, chips and salsa, margarita and beer cash bar, pull tabs and raffle drawings. Cost of entry is $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets will be available for advance purchase at the NWCC office now. Currently the event is being sponsored by North Webster Lioness Club, Chubbies Pub & Grub and Patino’s but more are welcome.
