Rogers Electro-Matics Adopts Little Lambs Day Care Ministry
SYRACUSE—Little Lambs Day Care Ministry, located in Syracuse Calvary United Methodist Church, has been adopted by Rogers Electro-Matics Inc. for the 2017 year.
Each year at Christmas employees at Rogers Electro-Matics choose a family to adopt. Employees then donate gifts and money to the family. This year, however, an additional fundraiser was added with Little Lambs suggested as the recipient. Janene Simmons initially chose the day care because several employees utilize the services of Little Lambs for their children.
The employees enjoyed working with and supporting Little Lambs so much they decided to continue the fundraising campaign throughout 2017. Three Rogers Electro-Matics employees in particular, Katie Hurley, Melissa Horn and Cassandra Burke, work on the fundraising committee. For the fundraiser they have come up with a monthly theme including a weekly “dress up” event Fridays related to the theme. The first Friday of each month a free lunch is provided with other food and beverages that can be purchased throughout the week. All proceeds from these fundraisers go directly to Little Lambs. As an added bonus, the owners of Rogers Electro-Matics, Bob and Beth Haller, have decided the company will match the amount of money raised by the employees.
Rogers Electro-Matics will be providing Little Lambs with a monthly check from the money raised by these fundraisers. This money will be used for Little Lambs’ operational expenses not covered by grants. Such expenses include four preschool scholarships as well as the ability to provide single parent families, military families and families suffering financially with reduced fees and assistance. The employees consider the fact it is a Christian ministry important in both their fundraising and choosing to send their children there. This month they have already raised more than $100.
Little Lambs Day Care Ministry is open from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. They provide both a day care and preschool program and accept children 18 months old through age 6. Each year they offer 20 to 30 children a safe, nurturing environment where they focus on learning, laughing and loving.
They also provide a latch key and summer program for 10 to 20 school age children each year.
