Warsaw Gymnastics: Tigers Post Season High Against Giants
WARSAW – Warsaw scored a season-high in team points Wednesday night in its win against Marion. In posting 98.125, the Lady Tigers bested Marion’s 61.15 just two days before the biggest meet of Warsaw’s regular season.
Warsaw went with an iron four of Daylen Turner, Megan Metzger, Anna Wainscott and Remi Beckham, and all four placed in the top four of all the competitors in all but two scoring categories.
Beckham was tops on vault (8.85), bars (8.125) and floor (9.3) and was second on beam (7.7). Wainscott was the top beam performer at 7.9 while Beckham led the all-around at 33.975. Turner posted scored of 8.8 on vault for second and 8.475 on floor, also second along with 7.4 on bars and 7.35 on beam. Wainscott added an 8.05 on vault, 7.325 on bars and 8.25 on floor while Metzger finished with totals of 8.45 on vault, 7.525 on bars, 5.35 on beam and 7.8 on floor.
The lone scorers for Marion to break the Warsaw run were both fourth-place totals. Breanne Jones had an 8.3 on vault and Seera Wilson scored a 6.8 on beam for the Giants.
Warsaw will now prepare for the gymnastics midterm, otherwise known as the Lakeland Invite. The Saturday event features all of the teams in the Lakeland Sectional along with powerhouse Fort Wayne Carroll, providing a meter stick for where teams and individuals are at heading into the final month of competition ahead of the sectional on Feb. 25.
