WARSAW — Combined Community Services Director of Client Assistance Peggi Lisenbee sees many volunteers come through CCS, but there’s always a few who stand out.
Julian Velazquez volunteers in Dane’s Family Pantry three days a week, using his lunch hour at Zimmer Biomet to volunteer.
Lisenbee says, “His positive attitude and compassion have been a huge blessing to the families we serve. He has such a positive attitude and makes everyone he comes in contact with feel happier and important.”
Velazquez started volunteering in high school and continued through a volunteer program when he began working at GE, helping at a food pantry.
Velazquez sees volunteering at CCS’s food pantry as a way to meet people and give back to the community. He and his wife of 10 years have three children and live in Fort Wayne.
“We appreciate all he does for us, Julian exemplifies our belief that ‘you don’t have to have a huge amount of time-to make a huge difference in the lives around you,'” states Lisenbee.
