Edgewood Cagers Claim Championships
HUNTINGTON – The Edgewood Middle School boys basketball teams turned in championship performances Saturday.
The Tigers earned a pair of titles as the NELMSC Tournament wrapped up at Crestview Middle School.
The 7th grade title tilt was an all-Warsaw affair as Edgewood topped Lakeview 27-21.
Jackson Dawson had eight points to lead Edgewood in the championship game. Jackson Elliott and Isaiah Courtois each scored seven points, while Sami Smith had five and Cade Graham two.
Elliott netted 13 points as Edgewood beat Indian Springs 48-26 in their semifinal game. Dawson scored 12 points, while Jeremy Ryman had seven and Courtois six.
The Edgewood 7th grade team completed its outstanding season at 21-0.
The Edgewood 8th grade team rolled past Crestview 57-23 in the finale. Mason Martz popped in 15 points for the champions, who led 22-6 after the first quarter.
Luke Adamiec netted nine points and Bishop Walters and Brock Poe each added seven in the title game win.
Walters had 13 points as Edgewood defeated Indian Springs 49-29 in the semifinals. Poe scored 12 points and Drew McCleary nine.
The Edgewood 8th grade team went 19-2 this season.
