Triton Basketball: Pitney On Fire
NORTH JUDSON – Triton senior guard Zac Pitney has already broken out this season as a scorer. Pitney said, ‘I can do one better.’
The athletic Pitney went off for a career-high 29 points Saturday night as the Trojans hammered North Judson 67-48.
Pitney was almost flawless on the floor, going 12-15 and only missing one two-point attempt in nine tries. He also added seven rebounds, six steals and three assists.
Nate Flenar was a perfect 5-5 from the floor and 2-3 from the line for 12 points. Grant Johnson had nine points and three rebounds, and Beau Hepler had eight points and seven dimes.
For the game, Triton shot 65 percent (28-43) from the floor, hitting 7-14 from three-point range.
With the win, Triton maintains its perch atop the Hoosier North Athletic Conference with its 5-0 mark.
North Judson (2-14, 1-5 HNAC) had Caden Benson lead the team with 13 points. Chris Contreras, Chuckie Wilcox and Trevor Thomas each finished with nine points.
The Blue Jays won the JV game 38-36. Tye Orsund led Triton with a fine night of 22 points.
Triton plays again Thursday at Argos in a rematch of the first round of the Bi-County Tournament, a game which Triton won 43-37.
