SYRACUSE — The following events will take place at the Syracuse Public Library:
Take Your Child to the Library
The Syracuse Library is inviting families to come to the library for a Saturday morning of animals with silly safari and other promotions for those attending. Take your child to the library is an initiative on Feb. 4, when libraries around the world join to encourage families to take their children to the local library. Silly safari shows their animals at 11 a.m. There are cookies, and prizes for signing up for a library card, also children’s overdue fees will be forgiven.
Toddle on Over is starting at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1. The weekly program is for toddlers, ages 18 months to two years, to enjoy a variety of songs, rhymes, and movement activities. After school fun at four starts at 4 p.m. Feb. 2. Each Thursday children in grades 1 through 5 can come for fun activities along with snacks.
Valentine Crafts and Cookies
Adults and young people are invited to stop in to decorate some heart cookies and make mementos to give to a special someone this Valentine’s Day. The meeting room will be set-up and help provided from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31. Come in for this free event and make paper, material and edible crafts.
The friends are meeting at 10 a.m. on Groundhog Day, Feb. 2. The group is creating a six-month calendar of friends activities while getting a preview of the program offerings of the library. The monthly meeting includes a baked item shared by one of the members. Yearly membership in the Friends starts at five dollars.
On-going Programs
Fridays are reserved as a drop-in time to ask for help with devices or other technology questions. A staff member will be available from 1-3 p.m. to answer individual questions. Questions have ranged from moving pictures from a phone to a computer to using Outlook for a business.
String Theory, the social fiber group is continuing through March. The group shares information about products, sources, apps and techniques. The group meets and knits or crochets at 5:30 p.m. each Thursday.
