Gary D. Kirkwood — UPDATED
Gary D. Kirkwood, 65, Syracuse, passed away at 12:22 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, . He was born on Dec. 31, 1951 in Greenfield, to Millard Stephen & Maidee Walton (Pettus) Kirkwood.
He grew up in Greenfield, attended Greenfield High School and moved to the Syracuse area in 1976. He was formerly employed at Behlen Manufacturing in Goshen for 10 years, Sellers Manufacturing in Milford for several years, sheared sheep and was a welder.
He attended Victory Christian Fellowship in North Manchester.
He is survived by his companion Connie Akers, Syracuse; son Gary Steven “Bub” Kirkwood, Osceola; daughter Rebeca “Becki” (James) Coplin, Albion; three step-daughters Tara (Denny) Blosser, Southtown, Texas, Tammy (Jeff) Yohe, South Bend, and Tasha (Chris Sabin) Blankenship, Cromwell; step-son Travis (Kaelin) Clark, Lafayette; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchild; sister Shirley Clark, Coal City; and two bothers Richard (Bonnie Lee) Kirkwood, North Manchester and Terry (Denise) Kirkwood, Howe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Frances LaVern Flynn; and brother Jimmy Millard Kirkwood.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 North SR 15, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 11 to noon Saturday Feb. 4, at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. Memorial services will follow at noon Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Tim Morbitzor officiating. Private family burial will take place at the McClintic Cemetery in Syracuse.
