BREAKING — House Fire In Warsaw Started From Child Lighting Mattress On Fire
WARSAW — Around 2:35 p.m. Warsaw Fire and Lutheran EMS were dispatched to a two-story house fire at 416 W. Winona Ave., Warsaw. A full assist from Winona Lake Fire was requested.
All residents were evacuated and emergency responders were working on locating all of the residents’ animals. The residents advised that the fire started when a 4-year-old got a hold of a lighter. Emergency responders were seen pulling a charred mattress outside through a bedroom window.
No flames were visible from the outside of the residence. Several roads will be closed to traffic in the area as emergency responders work on clearing the smoke from the house. Red Cross was contacted to help the three adult and four child residents.
