Rosemary Ann White
Rosemary Ann White (nee Romack), 71, a resident of Fort Myers, Fla., passed away Jan. 20, 2017 at Hope Hospice House, Fort Myers.
Rosie was born in Elwood, March 22, 1945, daughter of Mary Charles and Richard Romack. Rosie was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph order in Tipton, in her early life. She lived for many years in Miami, Fla., where she worked in the Treasurer’s Office at the University of Miami. Among her proudest accomplishments were three great adventures: the 3800 mile Walk for the Earth from California to Washington DC (1984), the Europe Walk for World Peace (1985), and the Trail of Tears walk through the southeastern US (1986).
Rosie has been described as “the used car salesman of good causes” and “a ruthless do-gooder”, capturing her generous spirit and empathetic nature. Over the past 20 years, Rosie’s passion was genealogy research of her own family and others’ and she treasured building connections through family history. She was an ardent fan of Ohio State Buckeye football.
She is survived by five nephews and nieces: Joseph Tragesser of Hammond; Catherine (John) Devine of Fort Myers; Julia (Tom) Wojciechowski of Norwalk, Conn.; Richard Tragesser and Christopher Tragesser of Crown Point; eleven grand nephews and nieces; two great grand nephews; longtime friend Bonnie (Stephen) Mikes of Miami, Fla.; and an extensive universe of family and friends. Preceded in death by parents, sister Betty Tragesser, and four infant siblings.
