Beaman Home Hosts Gourmet Luncheon To Benefit DV Victims
WARSAW — Beaman Home has been providing services in Kosciusko, Fulton and Marshall counties since 1985, but has struggled to find a way to inform the general public, or to fundraise without sharing secure details that were put in place to protect the domestic violence victims they were helping.
In November of 2016, that all changed with their brand new state-of-the-art secure shelter. They have added many additional services to help clients thrive as they follow their journey to self-sufficiency.
Non-profits rarely survive without a signature event, and this year, the Beaman Home’s annual event, “Angels of Hope Luncheon” will feature weekend host, columnist for CBSChicago.com and update sports anchor for 670 The Score, Julie DiCaro. DiCaro will be talking about her experience with cyber bullying at the luncheon.
As a woman working in a male-dominated field, DiCaro has faced extreme bullying on social media, and is an advocate for women’s rights. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 19, at Christ’s Covenant Church, 2090 E. Pierceton Road, in Winona Lake.
“We are so thrilled to have someone of Ms. DiCaro’s caliber come talk to our community about her experience with cyber bullying, something we all need to hear,” says Tracie Hodson, executive director of the Beaman Home. “Her message is very timely in our community and our country.”
One new standard-size pillow is the admission fee to the event, and is the hope that all attendees would make a monetary donation when asked at the event to help sustain programs and to keep the shelter doors open 24/7.
There will be a gourmet luncheon to enjoy while hearing the Beaman message and learning more about cyber bullying.

It is the Beaman Home’s hope to educate the public on the need for services and shelter, and to reduce the stigma that is felt by those who have lost everything, including hope, by being victimized.
