Warsaw Swim: Record Relay Highlights Wins
WARSAW – A record-setting performance from a relay team highlighted the final regular-season meet of the swim season Saturday for the Warsaw girls team.
The quartet of senior Brenna Morgan, sophomore Delaney Wihebrink, freshman Taylor Gunter and sophomore Olivia Herman notched their names in the program record books as the hosts defeated LaPorte 112-57.
The foursome set a new school mark in winning the 400 freestyle relay event with a time of 3:42.18.
Morgan, the senior star for the Tigers, also won the 50 freestyle in 26.24 and took top honors in the 100 freestyle in 58.63 for the hosts. Morgan also teamed with Wihebrink, Lauren Kuhl and Laurel Moeller to win the 200 freestyle relay event in 2:01.99.
Wihebrink won the 200 individual medley in 2:26.63, while Gunter claimed first in the 100 butterfly in 1:07.80. Moeller won the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.10 and the team of Kuhl, Moeller, Gunter and Herman won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:50.19,
The Warsaw ladies close out their regular season with a 10-2 record. They return to action Feb. 2 and 4 with the sectional at WCHS.
The Warsaw boys team also capped its regular season Saturday by beating LaPorte 94-76.
Evan Borchers won the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:54.96 for the Tigers. Borchers also teamed with Alex Cook, Nick Zogbi and Hudson Snyder to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:37.64.
Grant Knight won the 100 breaststroke race in 1:01.90 and Zogbi claimed top honors in the 500 freestyle in a winning effort of 5:07.26 for the Tigers.
The Warsaw boys team, also 10-2, will take part in the Northern Lakes Conference Meet Thursday and Saturday at Concord High School.
