Alpha Chi is a national honor society with a rich history of scholarship and service since 1922. The society is dedicated to “making scholarship effective for good.” At Grace College, Alpha Chi members organize the annual Communitas Symposium each spring. The symposium, which resembles a professional academic conference, is designed to integrate academic excellence, creative expression and the Christian faith. Students present papers, displays, artwork and performances across the range of disciplines at Grace College.
At this year’s induction ceremony, each student was introduced by a faculty member from his or her major and presented with a certificate and pin. New Alpha Chi members will also receive honor cords to be worn at graduation. Grace College Provost Dr. John Lillis gave the keynote address while Alpha Chi Honor Society Chapter Sponsor and Grace College Assistant Professor of Communication, Dr. Patrick Loebs, acted as emcee. Many parents and friends were present to celebrate with the students.
“It is always a special event to honor student achievement and celebrate new inductees into Alpha Chi,” said Dr. Loebs. “These students have worked hard to earn this distinction, and we applaud their success.”
